Training

1995-2002 Initially I trained at the Bath Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling for 7 years. I began practising under supervision in 1998, gained my diploma in 2003, my MA in 2005, and have been in private practise ever since.
I completed my mental health placement at Arbours, a residential organisation that offers support and care to people in severe emotional distress. I carried on working at Arbours on a part time basis for a further 9 years after my placement ended.
2004/5 Certificate in couples counselling,
2006 Trauma counsellor training with tfsw, trauma foundation southwest. I worked for 7 years as a counsellor and facilitator, offering support to people who had been victims of war or torture.
2008 EMDR certificate
2008-2013 Tutor, post graduate counselling course University of Wales, Newport.
2010 Supervision training with CSTD, the Centre for Supervision and Team Development, I became a supervisor for Cruse, working with individuals and groups as well as working privately.
2013-14 Sabbatical year. During this time I went to Peru, and joined a small local charity in a town in the Andes. The organisation offers a life-line to severely underprivileged families and their children. My role was to help the children begin to value themselves and see some hope and real prospects for the future by working alongside them on a specially designed programme of support and encouragement. I also worked in an orphanage, helping the local volunteers not only with normal tasks but also emotional support and backup in some very stressful times.

My time away has enabled me to achieve a more focused perspective and at the same time maintain a perspective that is multi-layered and expansive.
