Welcome.

My name is Bridget O'Connell and I offer long and short term, face to face,  counselling and psychotherapy to individuals from my private therapy room located in Whitchurch, South Bristol (within easy access of the ring road and near neighbouring areas of Keynsham, Totterdown, Brislington, Hengrove and Knowle).

How can Counselling and Psychotherapy Help?

Life can be challenging at times and it is at these moments when we may feel we need some extra support. We may feel something is missing in our lives but are unsure what,. We may be asking ourselves 'Who Am I?'. Or perhaps we want to embrace what we already have or the progress we have made and would like to be witnessed in this place.

Whatever the reason for seeking therapy, as a warm, approachable and empathic person I offer you a non-judgmental and nurturing space to be 'deeply heard, understood and supported'. From personal and professional experience I know the counselling relationship can be transformative. As such from a strongly relational stance I aim to help 'empower" you to make the changes you need to live a more fulfilling life.

My Approach and Specialities.

My integrative training means I use a number of different theoretical approaches in my work. For instance a psychodynamic approach means I can help you to explore the links between childhood experiences and how they shape your view of the present. Having been a piano teacher for many years I also use creative techniques in my work, which from experience I know can help clients overcome shame, ultimately helping them access emotions and experiences that are too painful to talk about initially. I will be guided by you but there is an opportunity to draw, sing or move if this is easier.

I have extensive experience and a keen interest in pre and perinatal issues, such as Vanishing Twin Syndrome, fertility and pregnancy issues, postnatal depression and miscarriage. If you are interested in how these early stages of life impact you as an adult feel free to get in contact.

I also have experience, amongst other issues, in the following: anxiety, depression, stress suicide and its impact, anger issues, bereavement, addiction, PTSD, low self esteem/confidence, childhood abuse and trauma.

Arranging an appointment

I offer a free 30 minute initial consultation, which is an opportunity to meet face to face and discuss why you're looking for a counsellor. If we decide I am the right therapist for you we can discuss a regular day and time to meet. Sessions are usually 50 minutes, once a week. I charge from £50 per session.

I offer concessionary rates dependant on a number of factors. Feel free to ask for more details and to see if I have any available.

For more information about me and how I work or to book your free initial consultation feel free to call me on 07919 691006 or email bridgetoconnellcounselling@gmail.com or check out my website www.bridgetoconnellcounselling...
