I work with clients who are struggling with some aspects of their life, whether these challenges be relational, emotional, or behavioural. Our work together can foster deeper clarity and understanding of the difficulties you are facing, as well as create lasting change in how you relate to yourself and the world around you. Often, our own inner resources and strength can only be uncovered when there is an empathetic witness to our pain, and I provide a compassionate, non-judgemental space where you can explore your struggles at your own pace.
My work is guided by Humanistic principles, and the quality of the relationship between the client and therapist is a key factor in the work being successful. I also integrate a range of theoretical approaches depending on what an individual needs - this might involve deepening attention to feelings held in the body, exploring family relationship dynamics, or discovering deeply ingrained beliefs that you are barely aware of. Previously I have worked at the BCPC Low-Cost Counselling Service, and I have experience working with trauma, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, mid-life transitions and grief. My background is in art, and I hold a firm belief in the power of creativity and nature to assist us in the process of healing our deepest wounds.
I am registered as a trainee with UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy) and adhere to their Code of Ethics and Professional Practice.
My practice is based at Wood Street Psychotherapy Rooms in central Bath.
Sessions are 50 minutes and my fee is £25. To arrange an initial session please email me on: ssymestherapy@outlook.com
