My background
Fully-qualified Counsellor. Private Practice in central Bath (BA1 1HH). Working with adults, young people and children.
I offer warm, non-judgemental listening and a flexible approach to address a wide range of issues. Our sessions can be in-person, online or by phone.
I am qualified to work with adults, and children and young people.
I hold a Diploma in Humanistic and Integrative Counselling, following five years of in-depth training. I have also completed training for a Diploma in Counselling Children and Young People. I continue to receive ongoing training in IFS (Internal Family Systems).
For four years, I enjoyed working as a Community Counsellor and School Counsellor at Off The Record, a Bath-based charity.
I also have 20 years of experience working in teaching, with a focus on health & well-being, pastoral care and special educational needs.
Working with me
Relationship is at the heart of what I do. I provide a safe, non-judgemental space in which I can work alongside you to process whatever is going on for you in your life right now. We often also relate this to other experiences and relationships from your past. I believe, given the opportunity in counselling, everyone has the ability to gain insight into behaviours and patterns which will enable them to get to know themselves better and to make the most of life.
Sessions last for 50 minutes. You may choose to see me on a short-term or long-term basis, and this can be reviewed as we go. I usually recommend a minimum of eight sessions.
Particular issues
I have experience in a wide range of issues, and believe in providing warm, unconditional listening to support you through whatever you may be experiencing.
I also have particular interest in the following areas:
· Anxiety, Stress and Depression
· Body-mind - how difficult emotions can give us physical symptoms
· Chronic illnesses, such as chronic pain
· Self-harm & eating disorders
· Support with school/education difficulties
· Working in the LGBTQ+ community
· Trauma, particularly due to sexual abuse
· Relationship and sex issues
· Issues linked with university/career transitions
· Post-natal depression/anxiety & parenting issues
· Learning difficulties
· Support for substance misuse/addiction
· Grief and loss
Location
My practice room is centrally located in Bath just off Queen Square. I can recommend appropriate parking nearby. It is a relaxing, welcoming and airy space in a quiet Georgian terrace.
How to get started
Choosing a counsellor can take time. It is personal, and not a 'one size fits all' approach! Once you contact me, we can arrange an initial free 30-minute meeting. This is to enable both of us to assess if we feel comfortable working together.
Please feel free to get in touch with any questions.
