Integrative counsellor in final year of training, based in central Bristol
I am an integrative counsellor, which means I work using the person-centred approach (following your lead – you’re the one in control) and bring in other modalities to support you to look at what may be causing you difficulties at this time. This means the support is tailored around you and what you need. One of the hardest aspects of therapy, is accepting that we need support and then reaching out to find it. We’ll work together, looking at the problems you’re facing, as I provide a safe and accepting space that gently encourages you to look at these challenges with perhaps a new perspective.
The relationship between counsellor and client is a unique one. It’s important to feel held, respected and cared for and believe that your counsellor has your very best interests at heart. Not everyone will give you this sense, so it is crucial to keep searching until you find someone who does. I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation, after which we can meet for an initial session and if, after this, you’re happy to work with me we can commit and contract for our further sessions.
I have experience of working with anxiety, depression, autism, behavioural issues, stress, menopause and bereavement whilst on placement (2 years) in Kingswood. As a trained mediator I also have experience of family conflict and relationship issues. I have a good understanding of ethical non-monogamy and alternative lifestyles.
My training at Bath's Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy has given me a good foundation in relational therapy. This centres around the belief that how we behave in relation to others stems from our early years of attachment. I will support you look at this, however only if it is something you want to look at.
Because I am in my final year of training, sessions are charged at £30 for 50 minutes. (£25 concessions)
