Abigail Rose, Psychotherapist in Bristol ,

Abigail Rose

Hi, I am Abigail Rose, a psychotherapist, artist, meditator, nature lover, sea swimmer, wild wanderer, allotment dweller. I offer support to individuals through weekly in – person, face – to – face sessions from my colourful therapy space in central Bristol.

I offer a safe, consistent space for individuals to explore their inner world at a pace that feels right for them. Through a supportive therapeutic relationship, we can begin to make sense of hidden, often overwhelming experiences—giving them voice and meaning.

This process encourages a deeper, more compassionate connection with oneself, which naturally extends to more authentic relationships with others. The journey can be gentle, challenging, surprising—and even joyful. I believe that learning to be kind and playful with ourselves is a powerful gateway to healing, connection, and feeling truly part of the world.

I’m especially attuned to the modern struggle with isolation, disconnection, and emotional numbness. These experiences often arise from a separation—from our bodies, from nature, and from community. In therapy, we explore these layers together, addressing not only personal wounds but also the broader systemic forces that shape our lives. This includes reflecting on power, oppression, and the social context of your healing.

Each person I work with brings a unique history of adaptation—clever, often unconscious strategies developed to survive and navigate the world. While these patterns may have once been protective, they can now feel limiting or painful. Therapy is a space to bring the unconscious into awareness, to rebuild trust in yourself and others, and to heal the deeper wounds that keep you from living fully.

You might be seeking therapy in response to a specific event, or perhaps you’re navigating more diffuse feelings—loneliness, low mood, lack of motivation, feeling ungrounded or disconnected from your life. Whatever brings you here, it’s welcome.

I have extensive experience supporting individuals through a wide range of challenges, including:

  • Grief, loss, and trauma (including PTSD and complex PTSD)
  • Chronic and life-threatening illness
  • Eating disorders and body-related distress
  • Climate grief and eco-anxiety
  • Addictions and unhealthy relationships with technology
  • Childhood neglect, emotional and developmental trauma
  • Miscarriage, abortion, and menstrual cycle awareness
  • Abusive relationships and childhood sexual abuse
  • Sexual identity, intimacy, and relational challenges
  • Family illness, narcissistic wounding
  • ADHD, autism
  • Self-harming behaviors
  • Separation anxiety, and social anxiety

These list can feel exhaustive. Human experience is vast, and your story may touch on many of these areas—or others not named here. What matters most is how these experiences live in you, and how we can work together to understand and transform them.

My commitment is to meet you as the complex, multifaceted individual you are. Therapy with me is not about fitting into diagnostic categories—it’s about exploring your personal relationship to your experiences, and walking alongside you as you navigate your healing journey.

Training

I am a qualified Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapist with over seven years of postgraduate training, including a Master’s degree and a professional Diploma. My academic and clinical background spans a wide range of psychotherapeutic theories and approaches, providing a solid foundation for nuanced, client-centred work.

My practice is rooted in humanistic principles, which emphasise each individual’s innate potential and capacity for self-determination. While theory informs my approach, I believe the therapeutic relationship itself is the most powerful agent for healing—an authentic, empathic connection where transformation can take place.

I work with adults facing a variety of emotional and psychological challenges, offering a safe, non-judgmental space to explore, reflect, and grow.

I have over 9 years experience working in private practice.
