About

I work short or long term with individuals who are suffering from any kind of distress or dissatisfaction in their lives.

Further Information

I have been in continuous private practice since 1996, obtaining the Diploma in Humanistic Integrative psychotherapy at bcpc. Prior to that I saw clients at Cotswold counselling and support centre in Cirencester and was one of the founding members of the Committee, later becoming a consultant to them.

Stroud is within easy reach of cirencester, tetbury and wootton and my practice is close to the centre  of town and has easy parking

I hold the view that given the right conditions every human being can flourish and I aim to foster a relationship in which growth can occur. Experience has taught  me that it is never too late to undo unhealthy patterns of behaviour which may have developed, leading to difficulties with relationships.

I have considerable experience of working with people who have suffered from bereavement  and loss of  diverse kinds as well as  trauma including childhood sexual abuse. Sometimes parents have not been deliberately cruel but have been unable to meet their particular child’s needs. This can result in low self-esteem which may affect many areas of a person’s life.

I have additional training in Energy Psychology  EFT (tapping) and AIT (advanced integrated therapy.) these methods aid the processing of emotional difficulty and trauma by using ancient understandings of energy fields using meridians and the chakras.

My previous career was that of GP and I am experienced at working with those who have been diagnosed with chronic or life-threatening illness and their carers. I understand the strain and difficulties of caring for a relative and offer reduced rates for such “carers”.

I also know what a burden it can be working in beleaguered public services and work with professionals such as doctors, teachers and social workers helping them prevent burn out

I set up and co-ordinated a counselling service for refugees in Gloucester and am used to working with people from different cultures and who have left their homelands.

I offer concessions for carers and people receiving state benefits and  I use a ground floor room.
